The Food Service Department at Richmond Community Schools is committed to delivering nutritious and delicious meals that support student success. Meal Magic School Lunch Account Information

Parents can monitor a student's meal account, set daily spending limits, limit snack purchases, setup notifications and make deposits on-line at the Richmond Family Portal. The student's id number is required and can be obtained from your school office or by contacting the food service office. It is free to use the sites and a fee only applies when a deposit is made.

Register at the Family Portal which replaced Send Money to School. At the Family Portal, you can make deposits, check account balances, monitor accounts, add restrictions to accounts, and submit the Education Benefits form. Follow the link below to access the Family Portal.

You will find a tutorial on the main page to help set up your account. You must be registered; If you had a Send Money to School account, the information would transfer over. A parent or guardian’s email address must be used when registering to make the system work.

We encourage every family to complete the Education Benefits form which can be submitted online
here. Paper applications are available at each school office and cafeteria. The Family Portal is the quickest, safest, and most secure way to submit your form. Only the Director of Food Service sees forms submitted and the forms received during food service office hours are processed immediately. Those received off hours are processed on the first business morning following receipt.

Richmond Community Schools offers healthy breakfast options for all students.

At Lee Elementary, breakfast is served from 7:30-7:50 a.m. each school day. Richmond Middle School serves breakfast from 7:20-7:40 a.m. each school day. At Richmond High School, breakfast is available from 7:20-7:40 a.m. each school day;

We encourage all students to take part in the school breakfast program to ensure they are maximizing their learning potential.

District Charging Policy

Although it is the primary responsibility of the parent/guardian to provide their child a lunch, whether it is brought from home or funds to purchase one, Richmond Community Schools, will not refuse a student from receiving a lunch due to a lack of funds.

Students who did not bring a lunch from home or funds to purchase a lunch will be allowed up to one (1) lunch credit (e.g. negative balance) on their school meals account and will be served the lunch entrée for the day. Students with accounts that continue to have a negative balance will be provided an alternative lunch and charged appropriately. The Food Service Department will be responsible for contacting families with a negative balance.

It is Richmond Community School's expectation for parent/guardians to remit funds on the next business day to clear up any negative balances on the student's school meals account. Any and all negative balances will have an adverse effect on the district's overall General Fund and may result in the district seeking legal action, if appropriate.

Education Benefits and Share with Other Programs forms are accepted throughout the school year. Forms may also be submitted at FamilyPortal Cloud.

Low-Cost Internet from Comcast

Beginning with the 2011-12 school year, Comcast is offering discounted internet services for families with at least one child receiving free school meals. Participants in the Internet Essentials Program will enjoy no price increases, activation or equipment rental fees. In addition to the internet services, families can purchase a low-cost computer from Comcast and receive free internet training - online, in print, and in classroom.
